Trip Map

thumb

I made this map from my trip notes and the highlighted road atlas I used on my road-trip. I think I was going to post something more detailed (I kept a travel log), but I never will. Anyway, here's the map.

I also have a bunch of photos in My Photo Album

The highlights were California (pretty), Nevada (Star Trek the Experience) and New Mexico (Roswell & Carlsbad Caverns). All in all, I was rather underwhelmed. Connecticut really is one of the nicer looking states (if you can stand the people), so my highlights are mostly "to do," not "to see." I went to CA Disney. Compared to the one in Tokyo, it was sort of, well, lousy.

That's about it~!

Wah, you were in Denver? We could have met up if I'd known!

Aw, I wish I'd known ;_;

Admittedly, it was a poorly planned trip. I hadn't even planned on coming back from it. I was going to stay in California. Oh well, I only drove though Denver. There was a big lightning storm. I even got a shot of the lightning on film http://www.deviantart.com/deviation/39683949/ (after about 800 tries).

Maybe next time ^_~

Heheh. We get some pretty awesome storms around here, yeah.

wow, seeing it on a map really shows how much driving you must have done ^^;
and lol at all the alien stuff in roswell :D

Yeah, it was quite a change - I hardly ever drive anywhere. Roswell certainly knew how to cash-in on the alien thing. I wish my town had some kid neat theme like that ^_^

Ahh, roadtrips. I love 'em. So, you're not going to regale us with selections from your travel log? ::sad:: Maybe you could write a book! That would be interesting. Though, if you're not interested in lj-ing it, then I can how something as extensive as a book wouldn't be of interest either. I just have writing on the brain lately :).

I would write something, but I don't really think there's much of interest...
The one thing that I thought was noteworthy: from CA to NM, I saw tons of cars without license plates. I thought it was weird because I've never seen a car on the East Coast without a license(!)

Glad to hear that you have writing one the brain! ^_^ Does that mean I can look forward to the next installment of your story in the near future? (^_~)

You can make it interesting ;).

That's strange - I can probably count on both hands, with some left over, the number of times I've seen a vehicle with no license plates (not counting new cars).

As far as "Daily", I hope to have something by next weekend; if not that, then definitely the next - Fall break will be starting the 13th. Woo Hoo!!! I just realized: Friday the 13th - Cool! I hope there's a Jason marathon on somewhere:).

I've seen cars with paper plates - usually new cars that are waiting for real plates... but these cars had nothing. You'd get in big trouble for that (or at least I think you would) over here, in the New York area. I was just so surprised.

Of course, no rush on the story ^^ I just thought it could only be good news that you've got writing on your mind ^_~ Have you been writing anything else? I think you're very talented - you should keep it up!

Friday the 13th? I didn't know! Cool - they'll be sure to play some good, scary movies! I'm looking forward to this Halloween, too. I want to go as a Trill ^^

Well, my school work has been somewhat changed by my foray into fiction, so I view that in a more favorably, expectant light now. Besides slash practice pieces, I also have a few original things I'm sort of working on: an erotic novel that started out as dialogue practice and snippets of poetry and other stories. So, I kind of view things differently now.

I love October just for Halloween, but when it's an October with a Friday the 13th, too? - fantastic!

Wow, well, if you ever need an opinion on a piece, etc, I'd be happy to read your stuff. Erotic novels certainly sound promising ^_~
What kind of slash pieces are you working on? Do you have any other fandoms besides DS9? I'm curious because I'm looking to break into a new franchise or two.

My relative always goes all out for Halloween. A year or two ago, he had an alien craft land on his roof ^_~

Thanks!

They're mainly just PWPs - practice for when I actually want to put anything explicit out there (if ever). I read other fandoms, but I've never written anything else. I don't know if could adequately replicate the tone of another show. I play pretty fast and loose with G/B already :).

OMG! Those pictures are great! I love Halloween. We used to have hayrides and bonfires at home. Some of my favorite memories.:)

I did a corn maze the other day! It wasn't Halloween-themed, but it was a good way to start October off right!

Good luck with your writing! "Fast and loose" or not, you do a great job with G/B... I don't doubt that you'd do a good job with any project you try your hand at ^_~ I'll look forward to reading whatever you post☆☆

Thanks for visiting my journal!☆☆ Yeah, I've heard a bunch of stories of how bad road trips can be - but my trip was fun. I'm glad I brought a digital camera because I took thousands of photos... but only a few that were worth keeping. It would have cost a fortune to develop all of them ^^

Wow, good guess! Yes, I did teach English - although I was only doing it as a part-time job while going to school in Japan. I love Japan but can't seem to find any way to stay there for longer than a vacation... I'm totally broke and don't have a degree. But I really want to get back there.

School in Japan was a lot of fun... but one of the schools was a specialty language school for foreigners - which was set up with foreigners in mind. The other one was a Japanese University. They are generally known for being very easy. Mine was^^ (lucky me).
All in all, though, I think it's grade school and high school that are very different from Western schools. College is pretty much just lectures and stuff - basically the same as the West, except they really coddle you over there. You always feel like you're being taken care of.

That's the way it seemed when I studied their system in school. I took a class on the different educational systems of the world and their impact on societies. The primary and highschool systems are killers in Japan, but the University level is where the kids go nuts and have an easier time.

I guess after you work your buns off for 12+ years you deserve a break. LOL

All in all I'm willing to bet you had a fascinating experience. If you ever want to talk about it, I'm more than willing to listen. XD

Yes, I'd definitely say it was a fascinating experience. I noticed that school clubs were a very important thing in school, also. I joined the tea ceremony club and it met several times a week. That's how people met most of their friends, etc.

I'd be happy to talk about it, although I can't think of anything especially interesting to say at the moment ^^ All in all, I really liked it in Japan - the only problem is I'm a relatively poor person and can't really afford to stay there at the moment. Eventually, I hope to live there... But I guess I have to seek my fortune first ^_~

It is now. At one time...you're going to laugh...I wanted to be the Sociologist assigned to the Mars Colony.

Yeah, that worked out. LOL!

All right, all right, I didn't take that dream seriously, but I HAD it.

Yep, I wanna be a writer. My debut novel, "Full Circle" should be release later this year. We're finalizing the release date now. XD

I'm glad you've enjoyed the stories so far. My novels are in third person, but my short ficlets tend to be first person.

Sociologist assigned to the Mars Colony? Now that's original! :D Well, at least you don't have anyone else to be envious of!

Full Circle, eh? That amazing! I guess you'll be posting the exact release date in your journal when you know it? That must be pretty darn exciting! I guess your dream is a bit closer to coming true than mine ^_~
Yay, I don't think I've ever read a published novel by anyone I actually know... That makes a book so much more exciting ;P

Yep, I'm inching my way toward realization. Full Circle is m/m vampire erotica and I have a contract for "Selling Foxx" which is contemporary, dark, m/m erotica. "Tainted Past" is doing the submission rounds.

If you do get to read it, I hope you like it. I'll be posting little things about the story as time draws near. There are some things about the characters I want to do, but they'd break canon if I put them in sequel. I figure, they're my boys I can play with them if I want to, right?

That's great! And "dark m/m vampire erotica"? Now, if there was ever a genera worth reading, that has to be it (lol ^_^)!

Will it be available off of typical bookstores (amazon.com, etc.)? Or will it be a specialty book?
...Oh, it's hilarious to think of how I'd explain purchasing that to my boyfriend:
"Wha'cha buying off amazon, honey?"
"Of nothing much, love. Just a vampire-themed piece of man-on-man erotica by my livejournal friend."
*dies laughing*

I typed something wrong. "Selling Foxx" is contemporary snarky comedy. "Tainted Past" is contemporary dark. "Full Circle" is vamp and it probably is considered dark by a lot of standards.

"Full Circle" and "Selling Foxx" will be available via LAP's website. http://www.ladyaibell.com . They do distribute some of their titles via Amazon and Fictionwise, but it takes a little bit for the books to get posted.

LOL to your BF conversation. Wow, it's surreal for me to think it that way, but (big o'le honking grin) you're right. My first group of readers will probably be the people I know on LJ.

Wow -- that's so FREAKING cool.

I'm not so sure I'm popular enough for a "fan" base. But...*sheepish grin* you might be right.

I didn't get to pick out the cover, per se. With some publishers, like mine, you fill out an art request form where you can make suggestions, tell them things you postively DON'T want on the cover and mention styles you do and don't like. Some publishers the author has no input at all on the cover.

The cover for "Full Circle" is still being done. Hopefully, I'll see it before too much longer. When I get it, I'm going to post it on my LJ for sure!

Hm, it sounds like getting a cover is more complicated than I thought... So, what did you suggest? (just curious ;P) I can't wait to see the cover! (Of course, the cover doesn't really matter... but that doesn't mean that seeing the final, finished product isn't exciting!) I can't wait~!

You're so sweet. :)

I suggested a scene from the sancturary of the church (a lot of the book happens in that room).

Kendrick -- white hair wears a white suit. Byron -- black hair jeans and a flannel shirt.

At the end of the first scene, Byron falls unconcious and Kendrick picks him up in a craddle carry. I see that with the cross (crooked) over Kendrick with broken stained glass to the sides of the cross. (The book takes place after a massive world war.)

I don't know what they'll use, but that's what I'd like to see. I'm sure what the art department comes up with will be wonderful.
